Afterlives

Beneath Katie Moore Howson’s paintings are letters to past selves, past lives, and people who have become ghosts. She describes those letters as the works’ first lives. Afterlives is a short film about what happens when those words, memories, and meanings take another form.

I spent an afternoon with Katie talking about grief, the things we carry forward, and the process of turning something deeply personal into a body of work.
